2010 Brush Strokes Awards Artist of the Year by the Greater Brandon Arts Council
When Cheryl Kuck, chair person for the Greater Brandon Arts Council phoned saying I had been chosen “Artist of the Year” for Excellence in the Arts, I was truly at a loss for words. This unexpected honor recognized my personal contributions to writing and community endeavors. The event was celebrated by the Arts Council with a reception On October 28, 2010. It was a lovely evening with many guests enjoying music by an ensemble group playing on stringed instruments while guests from the community viewed various displays and artwork by last year’s awards recipients and the 2010 award winners.
I was presented with my award plaque for, “Artist of the Year” for Excellence in the Arts, by last year’s winner, Silverhawk, a native American composer who played his flute and original composition for the audience dressed in native costume. It was truly awesome. I felt very honored, very blessed. 2011 Florida Inspirational Writers Retreat and Workshop Saturday, October 8, 2011. 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Join Conference Directors Ruth C. The Writer's Museum, Scotland
Situated in Lady Stair's House, built in 1622, The Writers' Museum is dedicated to the lives and work of Scotland's great literary figures, in particluar Robert Burns (1759 - 1796), Sir Walter Scott (1771 - 1832) and Robert Louis Stevenson (1850 - 1894). Download the brochure here. (PDF format). Some stories are written from a vivid imagination, woven like threads in a tapestry to become alive with sight and sound, color and contrast. Some stories are mere ideas, thoughts and reflections that are methodically and carefully framed into words that tell the tale. Still others are the true experiences of life lived, of stories and events more wonderful than a fiction writer could ever produce. This is where I write. And God, who is the Master Author, holds the pen. Ruth Carmichael Ellinger.
